New CD Cricket life member and then CDC president Michael Sewell speaks with Sir Richard Hadlee at the launch the cricket great's book on the 1949 tour of England during his 2017 visit to Whanganui. Retired Whanganui accountant Michael Sewell has been rewarded for going into bat for Central Districts Cricket over many years. Sewell was one of six new life members of the Central Districts Cricket Association inducted at the 2019 70th Annual General Meeting in Napier earlier this month.

The girls' age group tournaments will continue during the Wanganui Festival of Cricket early in the New Year at Victoria Park. Cricket Wanganui is playing it smart and taking time to reposition itself after the resignation of its general manager Dilan Raj late last month. Raj left after running the sport for the association for 13 years, much of that time on a hands-on basis.
