Finland och Sverige har som medlemmar i Nato deklarerat sig vara lojala, konstruktiva och pålitliga partner. Båda folken sökte full säkerhet (artikel 5), vilket även innebär skydd mot nukleära hot, skrämsel och utpressning. Nato ska ge ett sådant skydd. Alliansens ståndpunkt rörande nukleär avskräckning är inte statisk utan uppdateras efter decennier av låg prioritet och försummelse.

With the destruction of the final remaining stockpiles of declared chemical weapons in 2023, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) must adjust to a new role. The inauguration of the OPCW’s Centre for Chemistry and Technology (CCT) in 2023 provides a new resource to assist the organization and the international community in reducing and eliminating the threat from chemical weapons.

On 22 February, SIPRI and Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) hosted the roundtable ‘Security Governance after Russia’s War against Ukraine’. The discussion centered on different scenarios for Ukraine and necessary measures for its future security as part of Europe and the West. The event was held at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI). Welcome remarks were provided by Fredrik Löjdquist, Director of SCEEUS, and Joakim Vaverka, Deputy Director of SIPRI.
