    BY IAN CROUCHThe Port Stephens community has been rocked by the death of a swimmer at Shoal Bay. Police say the 24-year-old man and another 25-year-old man, both Nepalese nationals were swimming at Zenith Beach at about 2.45 yesterday afternoon when they got into trouble in the surf. It’s believed a group of teenagers came to their aid, pulling both men from the water. The younger man could not be revived and died at the scene.

    Nationals Hunter hopeful Sue Gilroy has announced a Medicare urgent care clinic for Morisset if the Coalition’s elected come May 3. It comes after Labor promised one for Maitland, and committed to expanding services at the existing Charlestown and Lake Haven clinics. Sue Gilroy says no details have been locked in, but the Coalition will build one on the western side of Lake Macquarie. “We’re just committed to delivering this, and understanding what we need to do,” she said.

Hume Community Housing has received $6 million from the Commonwealth Housing Australia Future Fund, $1.5 million in land from the State Government and accelerated planning approval from Port Stephens Council. Head of Development and Growth, Dan Lincoln says it will see 3 rundown homes in Phillip Street demolished to make way new housing to accommodate dozens of people in need.

It’s likely he is travelling on public transport. Concerns are held for Peter’s safety due to his multiple medical conditions.
