On May 29, the temperature high in the City of Lacombe was 31.9 C beating the previously held daily record of 30.5 C, which was set 39 years ago in 1986. Records have been monitored in the area since 1907. Meanwhile in Red Deer, the daily high reached 31.6 C knocking out the previous record of 30.7 C also set in 1986.

In a letter to families, Principal Chris Good said at approximately 9:15 a.m. they initiated a hold and secure as a precautionary measure after a domestic dispute in the school parking lot, which did not involve any staff or students.

According to the Red Deer municipal detachment crime statistics from January to March presented to city council on Tuesday, break and enters were up 64 per cent from 2024 to 2025.

Rebels director of player of personnel Jamie Novakoski said he was ecstatic with how the drafts went this week. “I think we addressed what we were looking for going into the draft in getting some defenceman who have some size, meanness, can still move pucks, get around the ice, and play some valuable minutes in the future for the Rebels,” he said.
