May 13 (UPI) -- Inflation rose slightly less than expected in April despite the arrival of President Donald Trump's sweeping international tariffs early in the month, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report on Tuesday. The consumer price index rose 0.2% in April and 2.3% on the year, while core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy prices also rose 0.2% for the month and 2.8% on the year.
