The proposal would see The Old Fire and Ambulance building in Calne, Wiltshire, converted into a "vibrant hub" that could host activities and workshops for young people. Councillor Orrey Pike said plans were in its "very early" stages.

Work is due to start on the grounds of a town's historic football club to help its fight towards promotion, its chairman has said. Trowbridge Town FC, in Wiltshire, has raised thousands of pounds to bring its Woodmarsh pitch up to the standard needed to move to the next step of the non-league football pyramid. The club used to be Wiltshire's top non-league football team before it disbanded in 1997 but it now plays in the county's senior league.

A martial arts teacher has said he is "very proud" of three students who have been chosen to represent Great Britain at their first international jiu-jitsu championships. Filip, 17, Victoria, 14 and Igor, 11, who train at the Draco Dojo Martial Arts Academy in Swindon, are among 20 British youngsters travelling to Belgium for the Flanders Open 2025, which is taking place from 18-19 January.

A 22-year-old man is setting his sights on winning a medal at the World Down's Syndrome Swimming and Artistic Championships. Dorian Williams, from Trowbridge Amateur Swimming Club in Wiltshire, will take part in the event in Turkey. However, his family needs to pay for the trip, so a crowd-funder has been set up to help get him there. Mr Williams, who started swimming aged five, said: "I'm really excited.

A woman who has raised nearly £1m for a cancer centre says seeing it open "will mean the absolute world". Nic Noble has spent years fundraising for the new Dyson Cancer Centre at the Royal United Hospital (RUH) in Bath in memory of her sister Vanessa Kyte. The £50m centre is due open in Spring 2024, a day Ms Noble said she cannot wait for. It will include oncology, chemotherapy and radiotherapy services, as well as a 22-bed inpatient ward.
