Last summer, while traveling with my wife throughout Tuscany’s sweltering interior, we found ourselves in need of a coastal escape. Italy’s Mediterranean coast is famous for picturesque and popular destinations like Positano and Cinque Terre, but as two travelers who are deathly allergic to crowds, we wanted something off the beaten path. Luck, fate, or a combination of the two led us to Pardini’s Hermitage, a small 13-room hotel on the unassuming island of Giglio in the Tuscan Archipelago.
