The engine of a Spitfire that crashed in a field in East Sussex during World War Two is set to go on display in a museum. How it got there has been called a "fascinating" story. When Phil Wooler was a boy he saw the aircraft come down in a field near his family's farm in Arlington on a spring morning in 1942. His daughter-in-law Jane Wooler told the BBC the Australian pilot Ted Hall - who Mr Wooler later met - parachuted out of the plane after its windscreen became coated in oil due to a fault.

A former Surrey sub-postmistress wrongly jailed while eight weeks pregnant has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). Seema Misra, who ran a post office in West Byfleet, is one of four leading campaigners to receive an OBE for their service to justice following the Post Office's Horizon IT scandal. Between 1999 and 2015, more than 900 sub-postmasters were convicted of theft, fraud and false accounting based on faulty computer data.

The son of a West Sussex veteran of World War Two has paid tribute to her after she died aged 100. Cicely Ball was among the last surviving veterans of the Allies' campaign in Burma, now Myanmar, during the conflict. Mrs Ball, who served in the Royal Air Force and the Army, passed away in early April. Her son Chris Austen said she was "a truly extraordinary person".

A private school teacher sent "intimate" messages to two female pupils, a panel has found. A Teaching Regulation Agency panel heard Reece Morgan worked at Seaford College in West Sussex when he exchanged "increasingly more inappropriate" emails with "Pupil A" . According to the panel's decision, published on Tuesday, Mr Morgan later suggested to "Pupil B" in messages between them that he could have a relationship with her.

Patients say a new extension to Frimley Park Hospital is "pretty pointless" without additional parking arrangements. Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust opened an extension to the site in April, adding diagnostic facilities and 74 new beds. Rosemary Baker told the Local Democracy Reporting Service the lack of parking "makes visits very stressful". The NHS trust said it plans to add 40 new parking spaces at the site in 2025 and the new wards provide "much-needed extra capacity".

Merrist Wood Golf Club, near Guildford, applied for planning permission to redesign its course in 2023.
