It launched a number of Hollywood careers and catchphrases and redefined what the teen genre could do. And unsurprisingly, like most Hollywood hits, it languished for years before being produced.

Even five decades after Andy Kaufman burst onto the national comedy scene, his friends and collaborators still wrestle, so speak, with what was real and what was part of the act. As you learn in the new documentary “Thank You Very Much,” even Kaufman’s death from cancer at age 35 in 1984 was viewed with suspicion that it could be a bit. The documentary probes the link between the brief innocence of Kaufman’s childhood and his approach to whimsy in his unique style of comedy.

Since we last spoke with comedian Kathy Griffin in 2014, she has been through the wringer: lung cancer, getting canceled, a divorce, addiction. But in typical fashion, Griffin has found a way to laugh about it all. Griffin is on her first standup tour in six years, called My Life On The PTSD list, and she has a new YouTube series called Talk Your Head Off. Griffin will be performing at the Paramount in Peekskill on March 28 and at The Egg in Albany March 29.
