    In just a few short days, punk bands from across the world descend on the City Beautiful for Foreign Dissent, Orlando’s yearly International Punk Rock Party. A labor of love organized by local promoter Craig Mazer, this year features bands from Italy, Chile, Panama and England. The bands come to Orlando en route to Fest, Gainesville’s annual punk pilgrimage featuring hundreds of bands from all corners, near and far.

In one night on one stage, Orlando will host three bands that helped shape alternative rock: Weezer, the Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr. They’re here for what headliners Weezer have dubbed their “Voyage to the Blue Planet” tour, marking the 30th anniversary of their first record, self-titled but lovingly known as the Blue Album, which they will be playing in full. The opening lyrics from Sincere Engineer's "Landline," off their 2023 record Cheap Grills, captures the Chicago band's sonic spirit well: wholeheartedly earnest and tragically honest, blending nostalgia with modernity, to a backdrop of infectious riffs and full-throated execution.
