    Ah, the optimism of youth. While younger Americans spend like crazy, many of them also feel like they'll be fine in the long run. That's the conclusion of a new Bankrate survey which finds younger generations are more optimistic about their retirement than older ones. Specifically, nearly half (45%) of Gen Z and Millennials feel they are on the right track for retirement, as opposed to only one-fourth of Gen X and one-third of Baby Boomers.

That is, the price of getting your own money. The average ATM fee is now approaching $5, according to a survey from the personal finance site Bankrate. That is nearly a dollar more than a decade ago, and almost three dollars more than 25 years ago.

    More than two years after inflation exploded to record highs in the U.S., the Biden administration is still struggling to tamp it down. The latest reading on prices again came in hotter than expected, a familiar conclusion in recent months. In fact, the last time the annual inflation rate was measured at below 3% was March 2021, just two months into the Biden presidency. The Federal Reserve's target is a 2% annual rate, which still appears far off.
