1 Introduction Crohn's disease (CD) is one form of inflammatory bowel disease influenced by host genetics and immune system, environmental factors, and the microbiome, with significant heterogeneity in disease phenotype and severity. One of the most severe phenotypes of CD is the perianal fistulizing Crohn's disease (pfCD), which causes an aberrant connection (fistula) between the anorectum and the surrounding organs.
