The RM Nagar police in Bengaluru have arrested a 24-year-old construction labourer for killing a six-years-old girl after sexually assaulting her near the house where they stayed in Hoysala Nagar on Monday (January 14, 2025). The accused, Abhishek Kumar, hails from Bihar and was living in an under-construction house where he worked, situated close to the girl’s house. The victim parents are also migrant labourers. While father worked as security guard, mother is a domestic help.

In a swift action, Cottonpet Police arrested a labourer Sheikh Nasir, 30, for slashing udders and stabbing the feet of three cows in Pension Mohalla, Chamarajpet in the wee hours of Sunday (January 12, 2025). The accused attacked the cows in an inebriated state, the police said. “The accused worked as a helper in a plastic and cloth bag stitching shop 50 metres away from where the cows were attacked and he attacked the cows in an inebriated state. The death toll in the collapse of under construction building at Babusapalya near Hennur in Bengaluru rose to five on Wednesday (October 23, 2024) morning. According to the police, 13 have been rescued in all, while three are suspected to be still under the debris of the six-storied building that collapsed on Tuesday around 3.40 p.m.DCP East Division, D. The State government has increased the lock-up contingency fund given to the station house in charge after a decade, from ₹75 to ₹150 per detainee. This move is aimed at addressing rising costs of essentials, such as food and other necessities, for suspects detained in police stations and reducing the burden of the station house in charge. The government raised the amount from ₹16 to ₹75 in 2014 based on the recommendation of the State Human Rights Commission.
