With the firing of thousands of federal employees in the last month and the toying with remaining employees, federal public lands and public services are at great risk. Many of our friends and neighbors have been affected by these firings, and our communities are feeling the pain from it. One of our goals this year is to continue to strengthen our community by offering spaces for our friends to gather in solidarity.

As of March 2025, the City of Ashland’s and Jackson County’s alert system, previously known as Citizen Alert, will now be called JACKSON ALERTS. Why the change? The City partners with Jackson County under a single alert messaging system. Until recently the system also included Josephine County, who will now be separate from Jackson County and the City of Ashland.

China's lunar probe has returned to Earth with the first ever samples from the Moon's unexplored far side. The Chang'e-6 landed in the Inner Mongolia desert on Tuesday, after a nearly two-month long mission that was fraught with risks, state media report. Scientists are eagerly awaiting the Chang’e 6 as the samples could answer key questions about how planets are formed. China is the only country to have landed on the far side of the Moon, having done so before in 2019.
