This Thursday, World Day Against The Death Penalty, reminds us there are still good reasons to be concerned about this form of punishment. October 10 is World Day Against The Death Penalty. While no one in Australia has been legally executed since 1967, there are good reasons to continue to be concerned about this form of punishment. Well into the 21st century, execution rates around the world are increasing.

The splits in American and Australian culture make for a different type of politician. American culture creates one kind of politician, and Australia creates another. Australians and Americans seem to have a lot of likes in common. We both have fans of cheeseburgers, beer, sport, and pornography (perhaps all four!).

Now I understand more about the role coercion plays in gendered violence, my reaction to public proposals has changed from “aww” to “ick”. Paris 2024 has been declared the most romantic Olympics ever after marriage proposals joined awkward pole vaults, breaking kangaroo hops and, of course, amazing athletic performances as some of the most memorable moments.

If there’s homelessness near you, or in the area you work, inevitably you’ll reach a conclusion that something should be done about it. Nobody wants to live on the streets and sleep on public park benches. This is not a question of choice.

Apparently members of my generation, the oft maligned, oft neglected X are being just horrendously embarrassing at the moment, pulling off reams of nonsensical cringeworthy horseshit like this.
