Clonmel's Thursday card has gotten the go-ahead after an early morning inspection at the Tipperary track. Following an inspection this morning, the track at Clonmel was found to be fit for racing and the fixture scheduled goes ahead. The ground is now heavy and the first race is scheduled to take place at 1.10pm. The featured Grade 3 Surehaul Mercedes-Benz Novice Hurdle goes to post at 2.20pm, with four runners going over three miles for a first prize of €21,000.

Cillian Murphy’s latest movie Small Things Like These, an adaptation of Claire Keegan’s bestseller of the same name, will become the first Irish film to open the Berlin International Film Festival tonight. Cork actor Murphy, who is nominated for a Best Actor Oscar this year for Oppenheimer, stars opposite Zara Devlin, Emily Watson, Eileen Walsh, and Michelle Fairley in the adaptation of Wexford author Keegan's 2021 Booker Prize-nominated novel and is also among the producers.

Ciro Immobile scored a 69th-minute penalty to earn hosts Lazio a 1-0 victory over 10-man Bayern Munich in their Champions League round of 16 first-leg clash. Immobile converted his spot-kick after Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano's clumsy challenge on Gustav Isaksen for which the France international was sent off with a straight red card. Disciplined Lazio stifled the German side's attacks and Bayern were toothless throughout, failing to get a single effort on target in the match.
