We thank Dai et al. for their interest in our meta-analysis on the prevalence and consequences of frailty in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) [1, 2]. Our work was a synthesis of 23 observational studies involving 1,893,448 adults [1]. Dai et al. highlighted a single study that did not show an association of frailty with postoperative outcomes [3]. This study was included in our meta-analysis.
