Sick and disabled employees need greater health support in the workplace, Sir Charlie Mayfield has commented. Speaking to the Financial Times, the former John Lewis Partnership chair and Keep Britain Working review lead said HR managers will often be told not to contact employees on sick leave because of fears of being accused of bullying and/or facing tribunal claims. “They would do anything to avoid that,” he added.

Seven in 10 (70 per cent) women have had feelings of imposter syndrome at some point in their careers, compared with just 58 per cent of men, exclusive research by Hays has found. The survey of more than 8,000 employees revealed that 64 per cent of all respondents had struggled with imposter syndrome at work, defined as feelings of self doubt and insecurity, with a quarter (25 per cent) experiencing these emotions often.
