Residents are raising concerns that a new policy in Fullerton is designed to censor bloggers and reporters who write articles critical of local politicians and violates freedom of speech rights. On Tuesday, Fullerton City Council Members voted 4-1 in support of a new policy that would ban materials not produced by the government – like community newspapers – from being placed in nearly all city facilities except a certain part of the library.

Elijah Jones from Alumni Hall was elected to serve as judicial council president at Wednesday’s student senate meeting. He will replace Hunter Brooke, who resigned in December to avoid impeachment. After a 28-page bill of impeachment was circulated to senators, alleging misconduct and unethical conduct, Brooke resigned from his role as judicial council president on Dec. 11, avoiding what would have been his second impeachment hearing before the senate.

Two major fires – the Eaton and Palisades fires – have burned more than 12,000 structures and continue to rip through Los Angeles county amidst containment efforts. At least 25 individuals have died in the blazes and more than have been displaced as of Monday morning. Orange County is currently under a red flag fire warning and wind advisory from the National Weather Service until Wednesday night.
