    ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help with locating a man who has been missing for more than a week, the agency said Thursday. Deputies said Anthony Byrd, 62, was last seen near the 1000 block of West King Street, but has not been seen or spoken to in over a week. Byrd has a black bicycle with a basket attached. Anyone who has seen Byrd is asked to contact SJSO or email [email protected].

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: All NAS Jacksonville personnel who were evacuated after a suspected "unexploded ordnance" was found Wednesday morning can return to their buildings. Base officials said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team assessed the NAS Jax flight line where the objects were found and deemed it safe. Officials said the objects were found in the ground while construction crews were repairing concrete slabs on the flight line. The objects have since been removed.

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is recovering and a suspect is in custody after a shooting on the city's Northside Monday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Police said around 3 p.m., officers responded to a reported shooting in the 6400 block of Restlawn Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a man shot multiple times. The gunshot wounds were considered not life-threatening, according to police.

    SARASOTA, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed two anti-squatting bills into law during a press conference in Sarasota Monday morning. The governor said the bills aim to combat squatting at commercial properties, including hotels and motels, and streamline the process for property owners to regain possession of their properties in the event an unauthorized person is occupying the space. "Property rights are really important," DeSantis said during Monday's press conference.
