SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The sports culture at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School remained enticing for students this fall sports season as the 2025 senior Raider Nation leaders kept the student crowds “wild”. With a megaphone in one hand and their bluetooth speaker in the other, seniors Angelina Valente, Michael Cantwell, Bella DiFiore and Sal Diaco rallied their classmates with chants and cheers, building the excitement from the first whistle to the final play.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – The Township of Scotch Plains hosted its first ever public Diwali celebration on Thursday, Oct. 17. It was a colorful and joyous celebration of Indian culture, heritage, music and food. The event inspired the hundreds of attendees to express their pride. “Many residents introduced themselves to me during the Festival and expressed how grateful they were that Scotch Plains recognized Diwali [through] this celebration,” Scotch Plains Mayor Josh Losardo said.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School’s Music Boosters hosted their annual Pasta Night fundraiser on Wednesday, Oct. 16, receiving a larger number of attendees than they had in the previous year. Numerous students and families across the SPFHS music department and beyond gathered in the school’s cafeteria and multipurpose room to enjoy live music performed by students and the meal served.

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ – The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Board of Education this year has incorporated new holiday observances to the 2024-25 school calendar in efforts to grow community inclusivity and representation. After the Islamic holiday, Eid al-Fitr was included as a holiday in the 2023-24 school calendar for the first time, and Diwali will be observed this year. The plan is to include Lunar New Year as in future school calendars.
