Siaya Governor James Orengo may be feeling the heat from a section of ODM leaders and Nyanza professionals calling for his impeachment, but several MCAs have dismissed the impeachment calls. On Friday, a section of Siaya MCAs allied to the governor described the push for Orengo's impeachment as baseless and having zero ground for impeaching a governor. They claimed the push to impeach Orengo is driven by selfish interests and has been sponsored.

Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda has opposed ODM leader Raila Odinga’s push to place the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) under county governments. Ochanda said Raila's stance reflects a misunderstanding of the distinct roles of national and county governments as enshrined in the constitution. "In my view, and based on court rulings, there’s no conflict between NG-CDF and county government operations," he said.

Siaya Members of County Assembly plan to impeach Trade CEC Grace Agola over alleged incompetence and violation of the Constitution has put them on a collision course with a section of the residents. The Motion, led by Fredrick Omoro of East Ugenya, has already garnered support from 32 out of 42 members. However, some MCAs and residents have termed the move as witch-hunt and called on Governor James Orengo to break his silence on the matter.

Governor James Orengo's administration has stepped up efforts to address the problem of water shortage in Sakwa area by investing in a Sh46 million water project. The Olago Water Project, which is being executed by DNT Engineers, is designed to produce 2,500 cubic litres of water. Speaking during the launch of the rehabilitation exercise, Orengo said the project is set to serve about 8, 400 households and learning institutions, once fully rehabilitated and operationalized.
