    Showlight 2025 made its return in May, after an eight-year break, visiting the historic city of Dijon, France. The event was held at Le Parc des Expositions et Congrès de Dijon on 19-22 May. The organiser commented that the show was hailed as the largest and most international Showlight to date, that it is here to stay, and would next be held in 2029, in an as-yet undisclosed location.

    An addition to PunQtum’s range of professional communication systems was debuted at InfoComm: the Q310 Wall/Desktop Panel. The two-channel intercom outstation is designed for installation in any kind of venue or facility that stages live events and for seamless integration into an existing PunQtum portfolio. InfoComm 2025, a tradeshow dedicated to professional AV, was held in Orlando, Florida, on 7-13 June. The Q310 Wall/Desktop Panel was showcased by PunQtum at the Riedel stand.

    Artscape Theatre in Cape Town, South Africa, has invested in four Robert Juliat Arthur 800W LED followspots and three Robert Juliat Oz 600W LED followspots, supplied by DWR Distribution, Robert Juliat’s exclusive distributor for South Africa. The decision to invest in Robert Juliat was made jointly by Johnny Scholtz of DWR’s Cape Town branch, working in close conjunction with Artscape Theatre’s head of lighting, Faheem Bardien.

    At midnight on 31 December 1999, Longplayer – a 1,000-year-long piece of music composed by Jem Finer – began playing. This year, EM Acoustics – a British manufacturer of professional loudspeakers – sponsored the project. The company donated loudspeakers for a sound system upgrade in the public listening area at Longplayer’s flagship Trinity Buoy Wharf Lighthouse listening post, where the piece has been playing for the past 25 years. There are various other listening posts around the world.
