The team received their Peach Belt Regular Season Championship rings as well as other individual accolades.

COLUMBUS (WRBL) – Inside the President’s Club at the Lumpkin Center, the Columbus State Men’s Basketball team celebrated one of the best seasons in program history Thursday night. The team received their Peach Belt Regular Season Championship rings as well as other individual accolades. The 2024-25 season saw the Cougars win the Peach Belt Regular Season with a 25-3 overall record, going 16-2 in Peach Belt play. The team was also ranked as high as 6th in Division II, a program record.

(WRBL) – The journey from Hardaway High School to the NFL has been completed for Columbus’ Mykel Williams. The former Georgia Bulldog was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers with the 11th pick in the first round of Thursday’s NFL Draft. Williams is the first Columbus native to be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft since Marcus Smith II, also from Hardaway, drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. COLUMBUS (WRBL) – It was a day 34 years in the making. Columbus, Georgia was finally home to Double-A Baseball once again, and the Columbus Clingstones made sure it was a memorable night. The Clingstones defeated the Pensacola Blue Wahoos 3-0 in the team’s first game at the new Synovus Park. The action started in the 3rd inning, when David Fletcher scored on a wild pitch from the Blue Wahoos’ Jacob Miller.

COLUMBUS (WRBL) — The Atlanta Braves have announced that nine-time MLB All-Star closer Craig Kimbrel has been assigned to the Columbus Clingstones. Kimbrel was signed to the Braves as a free agent on March 18. He has been working out of the Florida Complex League. Kimbrel last pitched in the Braves organization in 2014, and is back in the Braves Double-A affiliate for the first time since 2009. Kimbrel, a 13 year veteran, ranks fifth all time in saves in MLB history with 440.
