    GILMER 9, P. TREE 0: Alexis Kemp struck out 13 and walked three while tossing a complete game no-hitter at Pine Tree in Gilmer's 9-0 District 16-4A win. Jayna Rucker and Livi Brown both homered for Gilmer. Rucker drove in two runs. Alex Werbeck doubled and drove in a run. Brie Jones had two hits, and Kara Williams singled and drove in a couple of runs. Lily Henson also contributed an RBI for the Lady Buckeyes.

    New Diana's Avery Howard and Arp's Addison Carpenter earned top softball honors from the Longview News-Journal for their performances in games played April 7-12). Howard is the Pitcher of the Week, and Carpenter earned Hitter of the Week honors. Howard worked eight total innings in games against Jefferson (5-0 win) and Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (11-1 win). She struck out 14, walked three and allowed no runs on two hits - earning one win.

    Hallsville's Dunn Smith and Brian Biggs earned top baseball honors from the Longview News-Journal for games played April 7-12. Smith is the Hitter of the Week and Biggs earned Pitcher of the Week honors. In four games, Smith hit .562 with a home run, two doubles, six RBI, five runs scored and two stolen bases. For the season, he's hitting at a .405 clip with a home run, two triples, six doubles and a team-leading 24 RBI. Biggs tossed a no-hitter in his only outing of the week.

    TATUM — JaCorie Bradley, a three-time district most valuable player and a state champion in his final season with the Tatum Eagles locked up the next two years of his academic and athletic future on Monday. Bradley signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Southwestern Christian College during a ceremony in front of family, friends, coaches, classmates and teammates.
