    DALLAS — The Spring Hill Panthers are headed to the state championship game for the first time in school history. Landon Bartell went the distance on the mound for the Panthers, tossing a shutout, and Spring Hill (34-7) completed a sweep of Brock (30-5) in a Class 4A state semifinal series at Dallas Baptist University’s Horner Ballpark with a 2-0 win on Friday. The Panthers will meet Wimberly in the state championship game at 9 a.m. next Thursday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.

    AUSTIN - With a 21-0 pitching record heading into the Class 5A Division II state championship softball game, Sara Wiggins didn't need a lot of offensive help. She got it anyway, and Montgomery Lake Creek capped a perfect (37-0) season with a 12-1 win over the Hallsville Ladycats on Friday at Red & Charline McCombs Field. Hallsville, back in the state title game for the first time since the 2001 season, ends the year with a 36-6-1 record.
