May Outlook: Rain or no Rain?

April was a tale of two halves. While the first two weeks featured cold and damp conditions, we have course corrected quite nicely with consistent warmth, and many rain-free days to enjoy. The pattern shit has been somewhat of a double-edged sword given the increasing rain deficit and constant drought we’ve seen in the eastern half of the Midstate. With the last week of April offering little hope for relief, eyes are now turning to the approaching month of May for any glimmer of hope.

After a morning of east flow and cloud cover bringing overall cooler conditions, increasing amounts of sunshine are expected east to west across the Midstate this afternoon. With clearing coming so early in the day, it is likely some areas hit 60° if not a little warmer.

After what has been a prolonged stretch of substantial cold weather at times it seems we’re finally starting to break out of winter with small tastes of spring. All throughout the past week highs regularly broke into the 50s and even pushed close to 60 on a number of days. Indeed, our last meaningful snow was back on January 19th with the 7″ storm and our last measurable snow was on February 20th with 0.1″. All signs point to spring and we’re sure a lot are wondering whether it will stick or not.
