The Jackrabbits were busy this past week, competing in a trio of track and field events across the nation, marking their first outside competition of the year. Over March 27-29, both men’s and women’s track and field teams participated in Washington University’s Distance Carnival, the Texas Relays hosted by the University of Texas and the Bobcat Invitational held by Texas State University. Distance CarnivalThe Jack’s picked up a gold medal thanks to senior Claire Beckman.

Categories: March 4, 2025 South Dakota State pulled off their first win of the season in a comeback victory that saw the Jacks down 8-1 early on. The Jacks entered their four-game-series against Sacramento State 0-4 on the season, being swept in their season opener against The University of the Pacific. Sacramento State was 4-4 on the season before their games against the Jackrabbits.

SDSU was swept in their season-opening series against the University of the Pacific Tigers as they were outscored 7-25 in four games. The Jacks were able to put up 27 hits over the series but left 35 men stranded en route to their first four losses of the season. Originally, the Jacks were slated to start off their season against Murray State, but due to inclement weather, the series was canceled.

The South Dakota State men’s basketball team toppled The Dakota Wesleyan Tigers 78 – 62 this Monday to extend their record to 7-2. Oscar Cluff led the charge with 20 points following a 10/10 shooting performance and dominated the glass with 12 rebounds. Cluff is second in the nation in rebounds per game with an 11.8 average and became the first SDSU men’s basketball player to achieve a perfect shooting performance with 10 or more shots.

November 1, 2024 A new season of Jackrabbit basketball begins Monday, and with it, a new starting five. This past season saw contributing players in forward William Kyle III and guard Zeke Mayo enter the transfer portal to find new homes with the UCLA Bruins and the University of Kansas Jayhawks respectively. Kyle proved to be a thunderous force on the glass last season, averaging 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks with a 62.3% field goal percentage.
