    GREENWOOD, Neb. (KOLN) - The Nebraska State Patrol has identified an 88-year-old man who died in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday on Interstate 80 near Greenwood. Chester Heidel, of Livingston, Texas, was killed in a head-on collision involving a van and a semi-truck between mile markers 419 and 420 around 3:30 a.m., according to the State Patrol. Authorities reported that Heidel was driving a Ford Econoline van westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided with the semi-truck.

    GREENWOOD, Neb. (KOLN) - One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate-80 near Greenwood Sunday morning. According to Greenwood Fire Chief Mark Sobota, first responders were called to mile marker 419 and mile marker 420 near Greenwood on the report of a van vs. semi truck crash at 3:30 a.m. When personnel arrived, both the van and the truck were in the center median. According to the fire department, the driver of the van was declared dead at the scene.

    JOHNSON LAKE, Neb. (KSNB) - Two houses were determined to be total loss after a fire at Johnson Lake on Saturday. According to the Elwood Fire Department, firefighters were called to 35 Mallard Beach after a house caught fire at around 1 a.m. The fire spread, causing a secondary house to catch fire, and causing smoke damage to two nearby homes. The two homes that caught fire were later determined to be total losses. The fire department said the houses were occupied at the time of the fire.

    MADISON COUNTY, Neb. (KOLN) -The Madison County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men on July 19 on suspicion of multiple thefts. On May 31, a man reported a generator stolen from his business in Newman Grove. According to the sheriff’s office, the generator was recovered after another man traded his plasma cutter to 25-year-old Alexander Robak for the generator. It was later discovered that the generator had been stolen, and the second man returned the generator to its owner.

    WAVERLY, Neb. (KOLN) - A 100-year-old woman was injured in a crash in Waverly near 141st Street and Highway 6 on Friday. According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, a semi-truck traveling westbound on Highway 6 hit a southbound sedan on 141st Street at around 3 p.m.LSO said the semi-truck’s driver, a 29-year-old man from Franklin, Indiana, was cited for careless driving. The driver of the sedan, 100-year-old Darleen Marolf, was taken to a local hospital.
