This is Jeri’s House, a temporary residential facility for people affected by deaf-blindness. Under the careful guidance of founder and CEO Jeri Cooper, who is deaf-blind herself, similarly affected individuals come here to find independence.

Two Georgia College & State University professors are collaborating to create a free class for anyone interested in learning more about solar technology. Physics professor Dr. Hasitha Mathabaduge’s specialty is in researching solar energy and ways to improve the technology. He wanted to share his research and knowledge with the rest of the world, which led him looking into outreach within the community. “Most of my work has been in the lab,” said Mathabaduge.

The winners for the 2023 Big Click competition have been announced by Milledgeville Allied Arts, and the exhibit is open to the public. The Big Click event — an art show displaying central Georgia’s diverse group of photographers, began in 2006. This is the first year that Executive Director Rebekah Tobar and program coordinator Kristin Allen have organized the event. “We want to give our local photographers and digital artists a way to get their stuff out there and sell their work,” said Allen.

Dressed in red, white and blue, Rebecca Berry-Jolliff made quite an impression recently on the residents of the Georgia War Veterans Home. Ms. Georgia Senior America 2023 has visited veterans homes all across Georgia — singing, dancing and entertaining. Berry-Jolliff, of Lilburn, served on active duty for 10 years in the U.S. Marines and is the first veteran to win a major pageant. She now volunteers for the Atlanta Veterans Administration and serves as a member of the Georgia Veterans Association.
