1 Introduction Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of compounds consisting of metal ions and organic ligands, a subclass of coordination polymer. Based on their large porosity, high surface areas, and tunable structures,[1] these porous materials are at the forefront of cutting-edge research, drug delivery systems, and biosensing. The nearly infinite range of metal ions and ligands available to form MOF structures[2] allows almost infinite tunability.
