On 50 percent shooting from both the field and beyond the arc, the UW Oshkosh women’s basketball team cruised to a 72-60 victory over UW-Platteville at the Pioneers’ Williams Fieldhouse on Wednesday night. The Titans (18-1, 7-1 WIAC), ranked No. 6 in the nation by D3hoops.com and No. 7 by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, outscored Platteville (8-11, 2-6 WIAC), 43-20, in the first half.

The UW Oshkosh men’s basketball team fell to the No. 4 nationally ranked UW-Platteville Pioneers 86-73 at the Kolf Sports Center on Wednesday. Oshkosh was led by Carter Thomas, who scored a season high 27 points along with five rebounds, two steals and a block in his 40 minutes on the hardwood. Brandon Beck notched 15 points, six rebounds, and two blocks.

The Wisconsin Herd won their second straight game after taking down the Delaware Blue Coats 128-114 at the Oshkosh Arena Wednesday night. The Herd (8-7) had their three-game winning streak snapped by the Capitol City Go-Go on Saturday, but Wisconsin got back in the win column with a 91-81 victory over the Windy City Bulls Sunday afternoon.

The third quarter made the difference in Saturday’s mid-afternoon matchup between the UW Oshkosh women’s basketball team and UW-River Falls at the Falcons’ Don Page Arena. The Titans (17-1, 6-1 WIAC) led 33-27 at the half on 13-of-26 from the field, however River Falls 11-7, 3-4 WIAC) secured the lead with a 21-10 third period and retained the edge down the stretch to hand the No. 4 ranked Titans their first loss of the season by a 64-59 score.

Carter Thomas, Joey LaChapell, Brandon Beck and Reed Seckar all scored more than 10 points as the UW Oshkosh men’s basketball team took down UW-River Falls 81-68 at the Kolf Sports Center Saturday. In a game the Titans never trailed, they shot 47.9% from the field and 52.5% from 3-point range. Oshkosh (11-7, 2-5 WIAC) also scored 22 points both in the paint and off the bench, and 12 both off turnovers and on second chances.

The UW Oshkosh men’s track and field team won the seven-team Karl Schlender Invitational with 214 points Saturday in Whitewater. Ryan Potter was the first Titan to win a track event, as he won the 600 meter dash in 1:22.57. Matthew Eiden won the 400 meter dash in 50.89 seconds. Weston Lerdal claimed silver in the same event, running 51.16. Brady Larson also finished second, this time in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.35 seconds.

The UW Oshkosh women’s track and field team traveled to Whitewater to compete in the Karl Schlender Invitational Saturday, where the Titans took third with 150 points. The meet was won by UW-Whitewater with 171.5 points. The Titans’ first runner to medal on the track was Jamie Catania, who finished in third place with a time of 5:26.21 in the mile. Ceanna Dietz was the first Titan on the track to claim gold, winning the 600 meter dash in 1:37.17.

The UW Oshkosh women’s wrestling team fell to UW-Stevens Point 40-6 on the road at Berg Gym Friday night. Oshkosh’s lone victory came in the first match of the dual after Myra Bair won the 103-lb. bout by forfeit. The Titans (2-3) lost the 110-lb., 117-lb., 124-lb., 131-lb. and 145-lb. matchups by technical fall and the 138-lb., 160-lb., 180-lb. and 207-lb. matches by forfeit.

With four individual event winners and four team event wins on Friday night (Jan. 24), the UW Oshkosh women’s gymnastics team defeated UW-Eau Claire 193.4-187.45. The Titans’ score was the fifth highest in program history and the second highest this season. UWO led the way with a 48.275 on the vault, a 48.325 on the uneven bars, a 48.275 on the balance beam, and a 48.525 in the floor exercise, pacing the Blugolds in all four events. Averie Evans was the top scorer on the vault, tallying a 9.725.

The UW Oshkosh men’s wrestling team fell to Lakeland University on Friday 26-14 at the Kolf Sports Center. Logan Harel and Gage Coppock picked up major decision wins against the Muskies. Harel won the 141-lb match 11-1 against Lucas Schanen. Coppock won the 184-lb match 11-3 against Jax Lipnitz. Roman Martell won the 197-lb match by forfeit. JP Culver wrestled at the 133-lb match and lost by decision 10-9. Brody Toledo also lost by decision, losing 2-0 in the 149-lb match.
