U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell says he remains skeptical about President Trump's tariffs on foreign goods. McConnell spoke to the Glasgow-Barren County Rotary Club on Thursday. During his remarks, he highlighted his experience during his time as the longest serving U.S. Senator in Kentucky history and his efforts to pass an estate tax exemption to support Kentucky farmers. The Republican lawmakers also expressed skeptical about President Trump's tariffs on foreign goods.

Bowling Green and Warren County officials have created the Community Recovery Center for residents affected by the historic flooding in Kentucky. The Recovery Center is located at Michael Buchanan Park and open Monday through Friday from 11am to 3pm. Multiple non-profits and local agencies are on hand at the Center to provide resources for anyone in need.

Lost River Cave is dealing with the largest flood event in the organization's history. The cave system has received roughly ten inches of rainfall over five days as thunderstorms hit parts of western, central and southern Kentucky. Some portions of Kentucky saw as much as 15 inches of rainfall last week including Paducah, which experienced severe flooding. The severe weather has caused at least three deaths due to flooding and closed over 500 roadways statewide.

Heavy rainfall continues to pummel much of Kentucky and surrounding states amid what the National Weather Service called potentially "generational" storms and flooding. Over 300 roads were closed statewide Friday as standing water posed threats to motorists and homeowners. In Bowling Green, stormwater overflowed from manholes across downtown as the deluge put the city's infrastructure to the test.

The number of registered voters in Kentucky has declined significantly since 2020. Kentucky's Republican Secretary of State Michael Adams says the number of registered voters across the Commonwealth has dropped due to a combination of factors, including a high number of voters being removed from state rolls which has overshadowed new voter registration. The Kentucky Board of Elections removed 231,110 ineligible voters last month in compliance with federal and state law.
