Ride hailing app Lyft plans to begin operating in Quebec and has started recruiting drivers in Montreal. Executives told investors on a conference call last week that the company has received authorization from the Quebec government and has begun bringing drivers onto its app, but didn’t say when it plans to start offering rides to customers. “We’re thrilled to continue Lyft’s expansion into more cities across Canada this year,” spokesman Donny Nordlicht wrote in an email.

More than 40 years after he was wrongly convicted of two murders, a Quebec man has filed a lawsuit alleging he was set up by Montreal police and an informant who was actually involved in the killings. Claude Paquin, now 82, was acquitted of two counts of first-degree murder last year.

More trade turmoil could be coming for Canada, as United States President Donald Trump is scheduled to announce new tariffs Wednesday that could target almost all U.S. trading partners. Trump has said he will announce “reciprocal” tariffs on other countries and while it’s not yet clear how this will apply to Canada, administration officials have made reference to several trade concerns with Canada in recent days.
