ST. LOUIS — For the first time in school history the Western Michigan hockey team has won the national championship. The Broncos took down Boston University, 6-2 on Saturday night to finish off the title. Its the first national championship for the school in any sport since winning a men's cross country title in 1965. Western Michigan would score the game's opening goal just 1:37 into the opening period when Wyatt Schingoethe deflected a shot home.

All three New York Mets wins during their weekend sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays had a common theme, the bullpen shut down Toronto’s lineup but had to disguise the team’s continued hitting woes. Reed Garrett and Max Kranick combined for 2.1 scoreless innings on Sunday. Along with Huascar Brazobán, the trio has not allowed a run in 18.1 innings to begin the season.
