It came as little surprise that Youri Tielemans swept up at Aston Villa's end-of-season awards. His form has been unerring, a still point in a campaign of contrasting emotions. Fifty-two starts in 55 matches - 4,511 minutes - for a 28-year-old central midfielder demonstrated a unique robustness, made more impressive given criticism of his athleticism, physicality and mobility at previous club Leicester City.

Another season of Unai Emery at Aston Villa and another year of securing European football. Villa have completed the set. Conference League in the first season, Champions League in the second - maybe ahead of schedule - and Europa League in the third. This final one may bring slightly less pleasure, given it does not align with Emery's desire for incremental progress, and it came from missing out on the Champions League due to goal difference and a controversial refereeing decision.

Aston Villa have agreed a deal to sign Zepiqueno Redmond from Feyenoord on a free transfer. The striker was in Birmingham last week with his representatives to conclude a deal ahead of joining Villa at the start of July. The 18-year-old made his Feyenoord debut in November 2024 and is considered an emerging talent by Villa. The club had been keen to recruit a young forward following Jhon Duran's departure in January. Nice's Evann Guessand, 23, was referenced by multiple close observers in January.

Emery did not move from the moment referee Thomas Bramall blew the whistle for the final time in Aston Villa's season until, some while later, his stillness was broken by the other officials, prompting the Villa manager to head towards the tunnel. Director of football operations, Damian Vidagany, and Monchi, president of football operations, had intercepted Emery, but the Spaniard followed Bramall down the long tunnel, protesting the sense of injustice against his team.

Those who used to play with and against Ollie Watkins expressed astonishment at how he has transformed into an all-round striker. The graphic below demonstrates how Watkins has taken his chances almost exclusively in the box under Unai Emery. #AVFC 🔗https://t.co/KzyF4CIY3G https://t.co/sO9kZiAHAy
