The 43-year-old Spaniard is favoured by Real Madrid to take over from Carlo Ancelotti and Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro says there is an agreement with Alonso that they would discuss any offers if he is approached by his former clubs. Ancelotti is expected to leave Madrid with the Brazil national team his most likely destination.

Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign 18-year-old Antonio Cordero from Spanish second tier side Malaga. Barcelona and Real Madrid were both interested in the winger, who will join Newcastle in the summer on a free transfer with his Malaga contract expiring in June. Cordero joined Malaga's youth system in 2021 and signed his first professional contract with the club the following year.
