1. IntroductionCost is one among a wide range of non-audiological factors that have been shown to play a role in whether individuals adopt hearing aids (HAs) [1]. A number of studies have reported that the high cost of the devices may be a barrier for many [2,3,4]. It has been estimated that just a third of the cost of HAs purchased through a clinic is for the devices themselves, with the remainder covering audiological services and clinic overheads [5].
