Book ReviewT NagarajanRead the summary of Ordinary Monsters, and you may feel that this is the same story we have seen on the silver screen or read in many other books. However, I urge you not to judge the book by its blurb. I initially picked up this monster of a book because the story promised to be familiar – after a lengthy hiatus from reading (and sticking mainly to audiobooks), I resolved to get back into reading hard copies. Ordinary Monsters was not what I expected at all.

Liam Hogan attended the first Fantasy & Sci-Fi Spotlight at Shrewsbury’s Nerdy Cafe and lived to tell – and write about – the tale. The Nerdy Cafe, wearing the previous day’s Shrewsbury Pride colours, hosted a Fantasy & Sci-Fi Spotlight on 29 September, a day-long event dedicated to genre fiction for “avid readers and aspiring writers”.

Every year Fantasycon has a raffle and book bags, but we couldn’t do them without the generosity of writers, editors, artists, publishers and fans. This year is no exception, except it sort of is.
