    On 24 April 2024, the UK Takeover Panel published a consultation paper (PCP 2024/1). The PCP proposes a new jurisdictional framework which would narrow the scope of the companies which are subject to the UK Takeover Code. Code jurisdiction was last reviewed by the Panel in 2012 (PCP & RS 2012/3) and then again as part of the Brexit review (PCP & RS 2018/2).

    Political and economic pressures from 2023Following on from a string of remarkable years, 2023 was no less interesting. Global tensions remained heightened, as demonstrated by the ongoing war in Europe and the evolving conflict in the Middle East. US politicians kept us entertained and, whilst the UK only had the one prime minister in 2023, political pressures were no less fraught this side of the Atlantic. In the UK, the year ended far less badly than many had predicted though.
