The Rothwell group were making their second appearance at the festival in their 21-year-long stint as a band. Isle of Wight musician Ugly Ozo has released her first single since signing to a new record label. On To A Winner is out now and available to stream online. It was released by REX RECS, the label Ugly Ozo – the stage name of Jess Baker – became the first act to sign to last month. REX RECS was started by Macks Faulkron, a producer who has worked with Grammy and Mercury Prize nominated acts including Caroline Polachek.

Isle of Wight primary schools were treated to visits from both mainland and local authors as part of the annual Stories in Schools scheme, organised by the team behind the Isle of Wight Story Festival. Hundreds of students across 13 primary schools were entertained by guest authors including Paul Lyalls, a former Poet in residence for the Roald Dahl Museum, and Alex Milway, the best-selling author of the Hotel Flamingo books.

2 1/1 A new festival celebrating folk music is set to launch this month. The Newport Minster Folk Festival will take place on June 14, at the minster in the heart of the town. The event will feature a variety of local acts, including 2nd Time Around, The Hugh Dylan Band, Steve Love, Chasing Scarlett, Tali Monaghan, and Wightukers. Platform One musician Ruby, and Amy and Ellen, are also scheduled to perform.
