The Isle of Wight County Press is a community newspaper that comes out every Friday on the Isle of Wight. It has an audited circulation of 28,413 copies, serving a local population of 140,500. Between 2009 and 2014, the newspaper experienced a decline in circulation, losing 8,250 copies, which is a decrease of 22.5%. Since it started, the paper has remained locally owned.

Fall in number of primary pupils getting first choice school The number of Isle of Wight pupils getting their first choice primary school place for September has fallen year on year. Latest figures from the Isle of Wight Council show 91.5 per cent of students were given their top pick of school — down from 96.9 per cent last year. Year on year there was also a drop in the number of applications, from 1,024 to 998.

Santander Isle of Wight (Image: IWCP) Santander Isle of Wight has raised £500 for a soup kitchen through an Easter egg raffle. The bank, on St James Street in Newport, ran the raffle for the Pop Up Soup Kitchen over several weeks, and the money raised was through customer support. The total raised by Santander was £501. The soup kitchen supports the Island's homeless, and cash donations make all the difference.

Red Jet 6 at the Southampton terminal last night (Thursday, April 17) (Image: Contributed) Several Red Funnel passengers were reportedly turned away from the Isle of Wight ferry last night (Thursday, April 17) due to limited capacity. The passengers were advised to wait over 90 minutes for the next sailing. A passenger told the County Press they arrived for the 9.05pm sailing, and were told they couldn't board the ferry due to limited capacity.
