The Isle of Wight County Press is a community newspaper that comes out every Friday on the Isle of Wight. It has an audited circulation of 28,413 copies, serving a local population of 140,500. Between 2009 and 2014, the newspaper experienced a decline in circulation, losing 8,250 copies, which is a decrease of 22.5%. Since it started, the paper has remained locally owned.

    At Saturday's Shanklin Regatta, only three races were completed before the worsening sea state forced an early abandonment. Shanklin Sandown Rowing Club made a strong start, with their Boys Quad – James Travers, Sam Meadowcroft, Isaac King and Fin Diffey, coxed by Esme Walters – claiming an emphatic win. Fred Giemza-Pipe and Alex Robertson finished second and fourth, respectively, in the coastal sculls before an impromptu Beach Sprints event allowed more Shanklin rowers to shine.

    War memorial flower bed vandalised in Ventnor (Image: IWCP) A man in his 20s has been arrested after a vehicle was damaged and a war memorial flower bed vandalised on the Isle of Wight last night (Tuesday, May 13). Hampshire and IW Constabulary were alerted shortly after 10pm to reports of a 'man shouting and damaging a vehicle'. The incident happened on Park Avenue, outside Ventnor Park.

The affected section of the High Street – between Castlehold Lane and St James’ Square (from Correo Lounge to Tesco Express) – closes from today to Friday, May 16. The IW Council says the reason for the closure is to allow for essential carriageway repair works, ensuring the safety and integrity of the road surface.
