The $4 billion-dollar bond sought by Houston Independent School District just hit a new roadblock. On Sept. 30, the advocacy group Community Voices for Public Education released a statement: “HISD School Bonds To Raise Taxes On Houstonians By $9 Billion.” In the accompanying message, CVPE – supported by the district’s own documents –undercut Houston ISD’s previous claims about the bond’s cost to taxpayers. Now, the HISD bond proposal is drawing opposition from both sides of the aisle.

With Week 6 in the books, we had to skirt a lot of one-score games to come out unscathed this week. There wasn’t much offense to be had in most of the Week 6 slate, so the sweat was a little heavier than in most weeks. Between my picks of Las Vegas, Cincinnati, the LA Rams, and, unexpectedly, the Buffalo Bills, all final scores were within a touchdown, and those games came down to the last drive or two of their respective games.

Injuries are an unfortunate reality of this game. But not all injuries are created equally. Some you hope the guy comes back in a week or two, some you hope they come back next year, and some you simply hope they can play again at all. For those that saw the video of the injury to Nick Chubb, you know that this one falls into that third category. Initial reactions are that it is likely ACL/MCL and could involve the PCL/LCL as well but we are all waiting on information to confirm.
