Nine girls from across the county took the stage in hopes of being crowned the 2025 Jasper County Fair Queen. A PCM alumnus is looking to bring a new amenity to be used by both communities. Local business owner and Monroe resident Kyle Edwards has proposed a PCM Sports and Rec Fieldhouse to be located on property at the PCM High School. “Knowing that I connected to so many different parts of the community, not just one group here or there, I felt like I was one of the best people in the community to do it,” Edwards said.

For almost 40 years, Duane Rozendaal, chief deputy at the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, has served communities in Iowa, making sure people are taken care of in their hardest times. From starting out with the Capitol Police to becoming an Iowa State Trooper to eventually settling in Jasper County, Rozendaal has touched many lives all while being a professional and compassionate officer. “I was a student at Lynnville-Sully and my Sunday school teacher was a state trooper,” Rozendaal said.

Making beautiful noise sound like music is the challenge set out for Colfax-Mingo teacher Tyler Harper. In his first year at C-M, Harper teaches 306 general music and 7-12 choir at the junior-senior high school. “Kids are amazing,” Harper said. “I get to see them learn and grow over the years and be a little part of who they become. It is enormously rewarding in that aspect.”Harper isn’t new to teaching, he is in his 23rd year in the profession.
