To clarify, the #Colts must pay $4 mil in dead money. Could’ve split it over two years with the post June 1 release. In this case, they’ll just eat the full $4 mil in 2025. As for cap space, my understanding is the team thinks $24.6 million is ample cap space to operate.

Matt Gay will *not* be designated as a post-June 1 release, @TheAthleticNFL has learned. The #Colts could’ve saved $2 million in dead money and created an additional $2 million in cap space, but they decided to move on from Gay immediately.
