An NBA regular season marked by shocking trades and stunning dismissals of coaches whose teams were in the playoff hunt came down to the final day for six Western teams to learn, and earn, their fates. One of those teams that fired its coach over the last two weeks claimed the No. 4 seed, and one of the teams to pull off a blockbuster trade fell into the Play-In Tournament in devastating fashion. The Denver Nuggets beat the Houston Rockets 126-111 Sunday to capture the No. 4 seed.

NEW YORK - Another NBA season has come down to its final day to determine playoff positioning and who is banished to purgatory, the Play-In Tournament. Only, the drama doesn't get started until a little later Sunday. Game No. 82 is Sunday for the league's 30 teams, and in the Western Conference, seeds four through 10 are yet to be settled. The East's playoff picture is settled in full, which means nothing can be gained by any of the seven games that start at 1 p.m. Eastern.

NEW YORK - Darius Garland came to Madison Square Garden on a nearly two-month shooting slump that is now over. Garland ended it with aplomb Friday night, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 23-point comeback for a 108-102 win with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting. The 3s still aren't falling for him, except for the one he tried in the fourth quarter in which the net barely moved, so on target he was from the top of the key in a tight game against a worthy opponent.

"Hvala za vse," which means "thank you for everything." Almost no one outside of Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison's office could have, up until the shocking news broke on Feb.

Up until the moment it happens, when the Cleveland Cavaliers win their next NBA championship, whether it's this June or a future year to be determined, this is a franchise constantly trying to accomplish things for the first time without LeBron James on the roster. Well, they got another one of those things done Tuesday night, and it's a biggie. For the first time in team history without LeBron in the house, the Cavs clinched the No. 1 seed in the East headed into the postseason.
