Bowers contain a thatched twig tunnel (avenue) opening onto two courts covered with decorations. Males displaying on a court are seen by a female from within the avenue.

Aug. 21—YPSILANTI — Winslow Robinson's first name starts with the right three letters. Or four, depending how you look at it. The last three work equally as well for golf. The Traverse City West senior wins a lot, cementing a victory Wednesday with the tournament's low round to claim the 2024 GAM Boys Championship at Washtenaw Golf Club in Ypsilanti. Robinson shot a 2-under 69 to win the tourney by four shots.

MANTON - The Divide, a hilly gravel road bike race with three lengths to choose from, takes place Sunday in Manton. The 10th annual race is a founding member of the Michigan Gravel Road Series, and featured 250 competitors last year. The event starts at noon and has options for 19, 34 and 50 miles. Race director Jeff Harding said mile-for-mile it's the hilliest gravel road race in the state and in the country that he's been able to find info for online.

The Titans (6-4-4) fell to Division 1 No. 6-ranked Troy Athens 2-0 Saturday in a close contest at the Traverse City Invitational hosted by West.
