    The Yankton Bucks return five varsity regulars and six with varsity experience as they open the 2025 boys’ tennis season today (Friday) in Rapid City. Senior Zachary Briggs (18-8) returns at flight one singles, with junior Harrison Krajewski (21-5) at flight two, junior Christopher Rockne (17-9) at flight three and junior Luke Moeller (18-5) at flight four. Junior Ethan Marsh (18-5) moves up from flight six to flight five.

    One day after giving up 29 runs in a doubleheader split against Waldorf, the Mount Marty University baseball team held Briar Cliff to just two runs in a doubleheader sweep of the Chargers in Great Plains Athletic Conference action, Saturday at Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium. MMU claimed the opener 3-0, then earned a 4-2 victory in the nightcap to improve to 15-9 on the season, 4-4 in GPAC play. “It was a tale of two separate days,” said MMU head coach Josh Teichroew.

    In a road doubleheader played at Yankton’s Riverside Field at Bob Tereshinski Stadium, Mount Marty split with Great Plains Athletic Conference newcomer Waldorf in baseball action Friday. Mount Marty won the opening game 17-11. Waldorf won the scheduled nine-inning second game 18-6 in seven innings. The games were to be played on Sunday in Forest City, Iowa. They were moved up due to a snowstorm that rolled through Iowa earlier this week.

The GPAC has the potential for change in the last 12 games, as 2 games separate second (tie at 10-6) and 7th (3-way tie for 5th at 8-8), and a tie for 8th with the last place game only 2 games back of them.
