BAY CO., Mich. (WNEM) - Voters are considering a millage for building a new Bay County Community Center pool. The millage would raise property taxes by 35 cents for every $1,000 of taxable property value in Bay County. “We need amenities for families in Bay County. And we think this is a great one for them to have,” said Holly Watson, an advocate for the Bay County Community Center outdoor public pool project.

SAGINAW CO., Mich. (WNEM) – State leaders are celebrating a major federal manufacturing investment in mid-Michigan. Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Congressman Dan Kildee were in town talking about a proposed $325 million federal grant to help Hemlock Semiconductor build a new facility. It would produce a critical material used in electronics and solar panels and increase Hemlock Semiconductor’s already large footprint in the market.

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) - Michigan’s secretary of state was in Saginaw to announce a new partnership between her office and Saginaw Public Schools. The venture aims to get students ages 16 and up their state ID before they graduate. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said Saginaw Public Schools students aren’t getting their driver’s license, or state ID, at the same rate of other students across Michigan.

(WNEM) – Three Michigan schools received swatting calls, placing the schools in secure mode, according to the Saginaw Township Police Department and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. The Saginaw Township Police Department said at 11:53 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, Saginaw County Central Dispatch received a call regarding a subject armed with a rifle in the bathroom of Mackinaw High School threatening to shoot students at the school.
