A Wilkes-Barre man who admitted attempting to meet up with a 15-year-old girl for sex was sentenced Thursday to serve up to 30 months in state prison. Joseph Mark Joyce, 57, previously pleaded guilty to felony counts of attempted unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility. Luzerne County Judge Michael T. Vough sentenced him Thursday to 15-30 months in prison followed by two years of probation.

A former Luzerne County court clerk who admitted pocketing tens of thousands of dollars in defendants’ payments over a span of five years was sentenced Thursday to serve seven years of probation and to pay more than $137,000 in restitution. Lisa Ann Price, 49, of Wilkes-Barre, previously pleaded guilty in April to a single felony theft count for stealing $137,594 from the Wilkes-Barre office of Magisterial District Judge Thomas F. Malloy Sr. between January 2018 and March 2023.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court plans to hold a special argument session at the Luzerne County Courthouse on Friday regarding three out-of-area civil cases. The session is scheduled to take place in Luzerne County to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the county’s bar association, the Wilkes-Barre Law & Library Association.
