A "chaotic" Lecce circuit at the Giro d'Italia saw Lidl-Trek's luck run out and a dominant start to the race come to an end, with several incidents "destroying" Mads Pedersen's lead-out train for the sprint. Pedersen had gone two for two in road stages at the Giro in Albania, but with a flat day on offer in the south of Italy for stage 4, the hectic nature of a Grand Tour sprint finale saw his planned last man, Søren Kragh Andersen, crash hard, and his team forced into "damage control".

The use of more aerodynamic time trial helmets in road races is a cycling trend that has found more success at the Grand Tours in 2025, with Picnic PostNL's Casper van Uden and his lead-out utilising the "just faster" equipment to help win stage 4 of the Giro d'Italia. At the starting team presentation and rider sign-in prior to the stage 4 start in Alberobello, the Picnic PostNL squad all donned their usual road helmets.

There were 59 debutants on the start line of this year's Giro d'Italia, but few will have completed a more fitting and fascinating "full circle" journey to their first Grand Tour than Paul Double. From VC Venta in Winchester, to cutting his teeth in Italian under-23 racing, and finally making it to the WorldTour in 2025 with Jayco AlUla, Double has arrived somewhere he at times didn't think would be reachable – La Corsa Rosa.

Having a former Champs-Élysées sprint winner as your lead-out man sounds contradictory in nature, but it's exactly the luxury that will be afforded to Olav Kooij at the Giro d'Italia in 2025, with Wout van Aert set to be his main pilot on the first flat day on stage 4.

Ineos Grenadiers may be at the centre of people's minds at the moment, with their rumoured deal with TotalEnergies reportedly gathering momentum. However, whether that materialises or not, one thing that has been a concrete certainty for the British team in 2025 is their obvious change in tactics towards a more aggressive, attacking style, which has borne fruit in the form of 11 victories.

Great video of two icons. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot said making her #ParisRoubaixFemmes debut was a ‘stupid idea’ after coming 2nd at Flanders. Now she has her first road win since 2015, and at an iconic race that didn’t even exist until 2021. Really cool day for women’s cycling🇫🇷

🇫🇷 #ParisRoubaix When video says more than a thousand words… a 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗵 that will never be 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻. 💛 https://t.co/wtekiTTSdZ
